The Way Of Hydro

1. Introduction

Okay… welcome to my CTF-Hydro write-up! I completed this map from start to finish in somewhere just under a month… working a few hours at night, maybe three days a week on average. So probably somewhere around the 50-60 hour mark (hey… that's one week's work for me… hmm…). Anyway, the point of this write-up is to explain a bit about:

  • How I started off making the map
  • What processes I went through on the way
  • How I made certain parts of the map

Just remember, this is not the “how to make a map tutorial”. I'd just like to share my thoughts and processes with others, as it's always interesting to find out how other people do their work :). This write-up covers mainly just the construction of the level - I didn't go into detail about the gameplay. By no means is the level the best gameplay or meanest looking art out there, but I'm going to say how I did it nevertheless, so even if you think the map sucks, at least you can read this and see how not to make a map :).
